A tour with the architect, Adi Basis, from the Engineering Administration at the Tel Aviv-Yafo Municipality, and the artist, Fanny Horowitz, at this light industry facility that was designed by the architects Yitzhak Rappaport and Zvi Frenkel and the engineer Asher Gleiberman at the beginning of the 1960’s. The architectural thinking that went into the design of the compound was innovative for its time and is a prime example of industrial Brutalism. The underlying aim was to streamline manufacturing processes. The hourlong tour will pass along the Brutalist concrete buildings as well as the underground parking lot, which was uncommon for that period. The tour will also describe what is happening at Kiryat HaMelacha today now that dozens of artists and creators from different disciplines have set up shop in the large industrial spaces – some of which will be open to visitors during the tour.
