The Tel Aviv Foundation – the philanthropic foundation that connects the Tel Aviv-Yafo Municipality with generous donors and various communities in the city – is celebrating its golden jubilee this year.

At a morning session of brief lectures, intertwined with artistic spoken word selections, the Foundation will introduce guests to a taste of its widespread operations, such as funding and constructing public buildings and the public space, developing educational and social initiatives, encouraging cultural and heritage-related activities, strengthening pluralistic Jewish identity, and more. Thanks to these long-term initiatives, the Tel Aviv Foundation has been shaping the physical and social landscape of the city. During the 50 years of its operations, the Foundation has left a mark on education and social services, the development of communal public spaces, the advancement of health in the urban space, and the cultivation of culture, an urban heritage and Jewish identity.

The event will begin with greetings by Ron Huldai, the Mayor of Tel Aviv-Yafo and Chairman of the Tel Aviv Foundation. Dr. Hila Oren, the Foundation’s CEO, will follow him with opening remarks about the importance of philanthropy for the city’s prosperity.

Health and the Public Space – Prof. Anat Klomek, the Dean of the Baruch Ivcher School of Psychology at Reichman University, and Sharon Melamed, the Director of the Social Services and Public Health Administration at the Municipality, will lecture on the importance of advancing health and emotional wellbeing in the urban environment, given the continuing states of stress and war, the loneliness epidemic, the growing incidence of extreme climate conditions, and more.

The City Through the Lens of Equality – Efrat Maiken-Knafo, the Director of the Resilience and Social Equality Authority and the Mayor’s Advisor on Women’s Issues, will present a management approach to increasing equal opportunities, with a focus on gender and social equality when determining public policy and managing the city.

Salutogenic Architecture and Rehabilitation – Dr. Orit Stein Reisner, Director General of Reuth TLV Rehabilitation Hospital, will talk about state-of-the-art approaches to rehabilitation. They come against the backdrop of the dramatic rise in the number of people who have sustained injuries in recent years and require rehabilitation and ongoing care. She will demonstrate how salutogenic architecture has been incorporated in the future campus of Reuth TLV Rehabilitation Hospital.

Between the lectures, there will be spoken word selections, held in cooperation with the popular spoken word line Mabati Lehagid? The participants include Hadar Abo, who will also moderate the session, Neta Dritter, and other spoken word artists.
