Remnants of around 100 biarot (well houses) can still be found in Jaffa and south Tel Aviv, providing us with information about the history of Jaffa and its vicinity when it was a thriving agricultural area. Some of the well houses are in the process of being designated historical landmarks earmarked for reuse. Biarat Murad is the first compound where the actual restoration has been completed and it now functions as a cultural venue. The one hour tours will be led by Lavi Vanounou, the well house manager, and Rinat Millo Steinlauf, a historic preservation architect from the Building Conservation Department at the Tel Aviv-Yafo Municipality.
