Tel Aviv-Yafo is Israel’s preservation leader. In last twenty years, it has provided numerous examples of preservation works and additions to existing buildings designated as historical landmarks. During this hourlong discussion that will be held at the offices of Mimar Naor Architecture & Conservation, various questions will be raised that challenge the current preservation discourse, such as ethical issues, preservation objectives and the artistic space of the planners. Different approaches to preservation will be presented, including their impact on the urban landscape, as well as the work processes implemented by the firm, ranging from the initial research and documentation of the building to questions dealing with functionality and maintenance.
